SIM Meeting (State Innovation Model)

The SIM program has a required completion date of 9-30-13.  However, according to Jim Hardey of the Department, they are hoping (and frankly, planning) to get an extension from CMS to October 31st, 2013.

Both G & C and Fiscal have approved the acceptance of funds for the SIM program.  There are a total of 6 phases for this program, with 2 of those phases have been completed over the past few months.

Phase 1- Begin process (Complete)

Phase 2-Convene stakeholders and gather input (Complete)

Phase 3- Define model (Due 6-30)

Phase 4- Finalize projected savings (Due 7-31)

Phase 5-Develop program details (Due 7-31)

Phase 6- Implementation plan (9-30 or 10-31 if approved)

There are 8 subcommittees that will begin a swift and active process to achieve these deadlines.  Those committees are as follows: Quality, Existing Initiatives, Payment reform, Delivery system redesign,  IT needs, Other Barriers, Education Outreach, and Regulatory and legal barriers.

Of note, the managed care companies will be included at all future meetings and will be part of these subcommittees.

The commissioner gave a MMC update that was pretty standard update with nothing new.

People have been asked to work with the Department to identify who will be on what committee.  The Area Agencies will be represented on each of the subcommittees.  Look for those names and committees in future updates.

The PowerPoint of today’s presentation will be available at later today.
