Community Support Network, Inc., in partnership with the New Hampshire Council on Developmental Disabilities held an event on March 19, 2018. Governor Sununu read and signed a proclamation that declared March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month in New Hampshire. It was an event that was well attended by more than 120 people! In attendance were people who experience a developmental disability, their families, friends, professionals in the field, and legislators.
It was a time to create awareness about developmental disabilities, teach the importance of inclusion during each step of life, and outline stories that express how individuals with developmental disabilities are living successful lives in our communities! New Hampshire was the first state in the country to close our state institutions and it is essential that we never result back to that style of living and continue to support individuals with disabilities with the supports they need to live in our communities successfully!
